INTRODUCTION
This directory includes markets and restaurants that sell
live fish, shellfish, crustaceans, and other live aquatic animals for
consumption. These markets offer an
amazing variety of seafood products.
These include freshwater varieties such as tilapia, hybrid striped bass,
catfish, trout, carp, buffalo; saltwater species such as eel, tautog, flounder,
black seabass, sea sculpins; clams, oysters, mussels, conch; lobsters and
crabs; and even bullfrogs and turtles. These markets traditionally cater to the
unique consumer demands of ethnic groups, and also those interested in simply
finding the freshest seafood possible.
Once it was only possible to find these products deep within the
“Chinatown” areas of major cities, but now live seafood markets and fine
seafood restaurants are being established all over the region. Perhaps you are interested in fresh and
