2008 Jersey Seafood Challenge

New Jersey professional chefs will have an opportunity to prove they are the premier seafood chef in the Garden State during the Jersey Seafood Challenge competition on Tuesday, January 15, 2008.

The event, to be held at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing, asks chefs to showcase their culinary skills by preparing their signature dish focusing on Jersey Seafood. In addition, each competitor will be asked to create a “Down the Shore” Jersey seafood platter, a recipe showcasing how easy it is for home cooks to prepare seafood for their families.

The Jersey Seafood Challenge champion will represent the state in the Great American Seafood Cook-off in New Orleans in August 2008. The seafood challenge is being coordinated by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, Garden State Seafood Association, Slow Food-New Jersey, Eat-Drink New Jersey, New Jersey Restaurant Association, Rutgers Cooperative Extension, New Jersey Chapters of the American Culinary Federation, New Jersey Sea Grant, and New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.

For more information or questions, contact the New Jersey Department of Agriculture at or (609) 984-6757.

Deadline for entries is November 28, 2007.
